少子高齢化や気候変動などますます複雑化する社会の課題に対し、持続可能で心豊かに暮らしていくことができる私たちのまちや地球を未来世代につないでいくことが必要です。このために、私たちのライフスタイルや働き方、ものづくり、まちづくりのあり方などの新しいパラダイムが求められています。このような観点から持続可能な未来社会をいかにデザインしていくかについて議論します。
Aging populations and climate change are issues humanity can no longer ignore. If we want future generations to have a good chance of facing these challenges, it is our responsibility to build a sustainable environment for them. This means rethinking the way we live, what we make, and the way our cities are built. In this session we will brainstorm ideas about how to build a sustainable future.
2004年(株)INAX(現LIXIL) 取締役CTOを経て東北大学教授、14年より現職。ものつくりのパラダイムシフトに向けて国内外で多くの発信を続けている。04年からは、自然のすごさを賢く活かすあたらしいものつくり『ネイチャー･テクノロジー』を提唱、14年から『心豊かな暮らし方』の上位概念である『間抜けの研究』を沖永良部島で開始した。
Emile H. Ishida is a former Chairman of both Environmental Strategy and Technological Strategy at INAX Corporation. In 2004 he advocated Nature Technology, which channels the forces of nature, and has since expanded his activity internationally. He has produced 101 patents, more than 400 scientific papers, and is an author of 44 books. He currently serves as Fellow of the American Ceramic Society.
1986年東京工業大学修士課程修了。キヤノン株式会社、カリフォルニア大学バークレー校訪問研究員、ハーバード大学訪問教授等を経て現職。博士(工学)。日本機械学会賞(論文)(1999年)、日本ロボット学会論文賞(2003年)、日本バーチャルリアリティー学会論文賞(2007年)などを受賞。専門は、システムデザイン・マネジメント学、地域活性化、教育工学、幸福学など。
Takashi Maeno received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology. From 1986 to 1995, he worked for Canon, Inc., and has also served as Visiting Researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, and Visiting Professor at Harvard University. In 1995 he joined Keio University, and since 2008 has served as Professor at the Graduate School of System Design and Management.

Mariko Saigo, president of Machizukuri Company Sheep Network (“machizukuri” means “town planning”), is an renowned urban planner. In 2011 she won the Best Future Project of the MIPIM Awards at the Marche International des Professionnels d’Immobiler (MIPIM). She has been actively participating in reconstruction efforts since the Great East Japan Earthquake disaster.
